Alfie didn’t always have the loving home he has today. In fact, his beginnings were far from perfect. He once was an outside dog left chained on the side of a house, able to sleep only on concrete and barking constantly for attention. It was no life for a sweet dog like Alfie and neighbors didn’t expect it to get worse.

One day, Alfie was chained outside as usual, but neighbors noticed that his mouth was forced closed with duct tape. Someone had taped this poor dog’s mouth shut! Outraged, they called the town police like they had one many times before. Unfortunately, nobody came to Alfie’s rescue. The police were unable to help get this pup off his chain and into a new environment.

That’s when citizens decided to take matters into their own hands. When nobody was home at Alfie’s house, they jumped the fence and rescued him. He found his way into a home that was much more than a concrete slab on the side of a house. With his new family, he explored wide open spaces without a chain or a muzzle. He has lots of fun toys, a big human family and even a canine sibling. He goes for walks, swims and runs on the beach.

Alfie has finally received the life he deserves, and none of us could be any happier. Dogs need more than a life chained on a concrete slab. They need love, attention and activity. Nobody saw Alfie get any of that until he was given a new home. Allowed to finally be a dog, Alfie was a happy, loving and goofy pup for the very first time.
