Crixus was rescued just under the wire, with only a few hours left before his 72-hour notice expired. Shadow Husky Rescue, Inc stepped in, working with multiple incredible volunteers to transport and house Crixus after he was sprung from the shelter. This beautiful, bashful boy now has the chance to find a loving, forever home.
However, Crixus was extremely lucky, and he was saved just in time. This isn’t the fate for so many other incredible dogs who are put down before they can find a loving home.
How You Can Help Dogs Like Crixus
We know you absolutely adore animals. That’s why you’re reading this post. So you’re likely wondering what you can do to help shelter dogs.
- You can foster
Fostering makes an incredible difference. A dog is removed from a shelter, and immediately there is a space available for another dog. Fostering helps save lives. Check out your local animal shelter’s website for an application and their list of requirements for fostering.
- You can donate
Rescues often have lists of the items they need the most on their website, and cash donations are always appreciated. Money can be allocated to purchase anything the rescue needs most. Raising adequate funding allows rescues the best chance at obtaining and sustaining valuable resources.
- You can share posts like this one
Sharing posts on social media is free and helps as many people as possible see them and potentially fall in love with their beautiful faces. This helps get dogs rescued. Share as often as it strikes your fancy.
- You can be vocal
You can remind others that dogs are lifelong family members and only encourage others to adopt if they are willing to make that kind of commitment. It is traumatizing to the pup when they are adopted and begin bonding with who they believe to be their forever family, only for them to be “returned.” Dogs require love, patience, and understanding, just like you would extend to any human family member.
Original Post
Crixus needs your help, and he is running out of time. He was put on 72-hour notice. This means that if Crixus isn’t adopted or fostered within that time, he will be euthanized. Sadly, the harsh reality is that rescues and shelters only have so many spaces for taking in and caring for homeless animals. So, overcrowded and especially underfunded, shelters are forced to regularly make extremely difficult decisions.
More than anything, they wish they didn’t have to do this. They simply want to save as many animals as possible. But there are more dogs in need of homes than there are spaces available for them.
Meet Crixus
This beautiful boy is a three-year-old Siberian Husky. He has already been neutered and weighs 40 pounds. Crixus is a stunning Husky who loves treats, but is easily frightened.
“Crixus should ALWAYS be on leash outside of the home, and needs to be supervised while in the yard to make sure that he does not escape as he will panic and be very difficult to catch,” shares Baldwin Park Animal Care Center.
Why Is Crixus At The Shelter?
His former humans explained that he is extremely fearful and may even require professional training to help. He is definitely in need of an adopter who has tons of love and patience. His future family needs to be willing to take it slow with him.
“The adopting party needs to be aware that Crixus is very fearful of new people, and it takes him a long time to become comfortable with new people and new surroundings,” shares Baldwin Park Animal Care Center.
Crixus is a sweet, curious boy who just needs someone who can seek professional training or someone who can devote the time themselves to work with him. But someone needs to act soon, or his life will be cut far too short.
