Every time you buy products from the iHeartDogs store, part of the profit goes to Greater Good Charities, an organization that helps many animals in need. Greater Good Charities’ GOODS Program donates food and other essential supplies to shelters and rescues to help them better support the animals in their care. Many rescue dogs now have better lives because of donations from the GOODS Program.
Ginger and Bella, two dogs rescued by The Underdogs Rescue, Inc. in Oklahoma, have both benefitted greatly from the GOODS Program. Both came out of their shells during their time at the rescue, and the donations helped them gain confidence so they could find forever homes.
The rescue took in Ginger after she wandered up to an old man’s house while she was in poor condition. She was very thin, which suggested that she had never had a good, healthy meal before. She also looked like she had given birth recently, but no puppies were near her at the time. The man couldn’t afford to care for her himself, so he contacted Underdogs Rescue for help.
Bella was also found as a stray, but she was incredibly shy. When an animal control officer found her, she was too scared to even approach humans. So, Underdogs Rescue knew they would have to be patient and gentle with her.
Luxury Supplies for Shelter Dogs
The Underdogs Rescue, Inc. receives lots of life-changing supplies from the GOODS Program, such as toys, reflective collars, stainless steel bowls, and soft blankets. While these items might seem like everyday pet supplies, Ginger and Bella weren’t used to having those things before being rescued. So, both dogs quickly fell in love with the toys, wanting to play with them as much as possible.
Both dogs became healthier while staying at the rescue. Ginger gained some necessary weight, and she had scabs on her body that healed. Bella became more trusting of humans over time. Since they made such great progress at the rescue, they were quickly ready to head off to their forever homes.
Supply donations can be essential for animal organizations because it allows them to focus their funds on other areas of care instead, such as veterinary needs and training.
“We would like to thank the GOODS Program for this surprising grant. The stainless steel bowls are like “gold” with dogs that like to chew on things,” The Underdogs Rescue wrote. “The collars are beautiful and so welcome. One of the luxuries we can ill afford to purchase: toys, toys, toys! The pups are all so happy to get to play with fun things.”
When you buy products from the iHeartDogs store, you’re helping dogs like Ginger and Bella thrive. So, thank you to all the heroes who have purchased products to help dogs in need!
