Since we’ve learned we can’t trust many treat makers, (especially these ones), why not begin making your dog’s treats at home? I know what you’re thinking… that sounds overwhelming right!?

But what if there was an easy shortcut to making fresh, safe treats from home without having to necessarily make everything from scratch?

Enter baby food! Think about it, why regulations around dog food and treats are sorely lacking, regulation around food for babies is certainly not! We’re about to show you an easy way of combining baby food with a single ingredient to make your dog fresh, safe treats they won’t stop barking about!

SHARE if you love this idea!

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups 100% organic whole wheat flour (or wheat germ, or spelt, or rolled oats, or a mixture of these, etc.)
  • 2 (4oz) jars of pureed baby food such as blueberry, beef, sweet potatos, or chicken. (IMPORTANT: Make sure there are no onion products in the baby food, which can be toxic to dogs). Avoid all brands of baby food with artificial preservatives which should be easy, since most  baby food is just water and puereed veggies or fruit.

Directions: (recipe idea courtesy of Curbly)

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Mix together ingredients to form a stiff dough. If necessary, add extra flour or water as needed.

3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to about a 1/4 inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut into desired shape or a pizza cutter to make cubes.

4. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper, place treats about 1/2 inch apart. Bake for 20 – 25 minutes. Allow to cool completely before storing in a paper bag (storing in an air-tight container will make them soft, but they’re still edible).

And there you have it! Fast, easy, and 100% safe treats for your dog! There’s nothing like the peace of mind that made at home treats bring. Try it today and let us know how it goes in the comments below!
