Experts Urge Proper Mask Disposal After Dog Nearly Dies Eating One

You have likely seen news of discarded face masks piling up in parking lots or floating in the ocean. Not only have used masks become a hazard to the environment, they almost cost a little rescue dog his life.

Gibbs, an abandoned 7-year-old Schauzer mix, survived emergency surgery after vets at the Animal Rescue League of Boston discovered pieces from two paper face masks blocking his intestines.

The masks were successfully removed and Gibbs is now recovering, but ARL Boston urges everyone to properly dispose of their used masks for the sake of the animals and the earth.

How Hemp Oil May Help Your Dog With Anxiety

If your dog struggles with anxiety, the unique way in which hemp affects the body and brain may just offer the solution you’ve been searching for.

Hemp acts upon the endocannabinoid system (ECS), opening up two-way communication between receptors located in the organs, glands, brain, and nervous system. This allows the body to target anxiety and restore homeostasis.

Find out how the ECS works, learn about the research supporting hemp’s efficacy in treating anxiety, and discover Cannanine, the only hemp oil iHeartDogs recommends.

A yellow ribbon on a dog’s collar means “proceed with caution.” The pooch may not be child-friendly, may have fear or anxiety issues, or may get overly excited.

BEHAVIOR & TRAINING

Toss The Treats: Using Everyday Rewards In Training

Some dogs are extremely food-motivated and therefore respond well to training with treats. But what if there is an emergency and you don’t have any snacks on hand? Will your pup still obey your commands?

Even if your dog is already trained with treats, you can still get him to respond to other rewards including toys, love, praise, and more. If it makes your pup happy, it can be used as a reward!
