On December 30th, Cookie arrived at the San Bernardino City Shelter with her beloved family, which included a young canine companion, then watched from behind kennel bars as they walked out without her.
Confused and lonely, the senior Cocker spaniel whimpered for the comfort of her loved ones, but they did not return.
“Cookie is crying for her buddy and her family. She watched as the family drove away with her buddy and left her to die,” writes a volunteer who must have been heartbroken from the scene in an article in the Examiner.
It wasn’t long before Pat Kurtz of Little Angels Rescue in Arcadia, Florida heard about this sweet dog and saved her from the shelter. The pup is currently being fostered by Brittney Place, a compassionate woman who has provided Cookie with the loving and comfortable home she deserves; Ms. Place is an angel in our book!
Cookie’s Freedom RideBrittney Place is the hero in this story. She may have been pulled under my rescue, but Brittney had the compassion and drive to make her escape happen. I love you, rescue friends! Lynn Hamilton of OC Small Paws So UT Division will be the receiving rescue.
