Dogs who have experienced some kind of trauma caused by cruel humans are usually scared by every human they encounter. Because of the pain they’ve gone through before, they would think that every human out there is going to hurt them. That is why they get so scared when they get rescued.
When you see and hear the reaction of the dog in the video below when a human tries to show him kindness by touching him, you will wonder what kind of horrible pain he must have been through. I’ve never heard of such horrified screaming from a dog before. This happened at a shelter in Craiova, Romania.
This poor baby is so scared, you can tell not just by his wails and his cries, but you can also see the fear in his body language.
What makes this scene even more heartbreaking is when you think about it, this dog was just so scared of a human, because all he knew and got from humans before is pain. He never knew what a kind and loving touch is.
Do you recognize him? 🙂

Yet the deeper issue still remains, what kind of treatment are these dogs getting from the people and at the shelter that frightens them so much? The public shelter where the video was shot is in Breasta county in Craiova, Romania–the city which has been called the capital city of canine cruelty, because of how the dogs are treated in the shelter.
There has been claims that the shelter kills off hundreds of dogs in just two weeks. Local animal rights and rescue organizations have been trying to help these dogs. But one rescuer who has been giving food to the shelter animals found out something heartbreaking and shared the story of Facebook.

But despite of all these, rescuers are still doing their best to help these dogs find forever homes and get their happy endings.
There is a group on Facebook, Save The Breasta Dogs, that shares videos of the dogs currently in the shelter. Please visit them for more updates and info about the condition of the dogs in the shelter. There is also another page that features dogs from the said shelter who are available for adoption. If you want to help these poor dogs, please visit the Facebook pages for more information. Or visit this Facebook Page to send your donations.
You can also help end the cruelty at the Breasta-Craiova shelter by signing this petition.
And here is more recent footage, can you believe this is the same dog?? We are so thankful he is on the road to recovery and what a testament it is to the canine kind to see this dog learn to trust humans again:
