A good Samaritan in Philadelphia made a heartbreaking discovery on January 18 – a beautiful longhaired Dachshund with a broken spine abandoned inside a garbage bag.

Just 2 weeks later, the chocolate-colored Doxie named Frances has been fitted with a custom wheelchair and adopted by a wonderful forever family – complete with 2 Dachshund siblings!

Gillian Kocher, a spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania SPCA, said it’s possible that poor Frances was trapped in that trash bag for a day or more before she was discovered. After her rescue, veterinarians determined that the injury to her spine is irreversible and that she will always be dependent on the use of a wheelchair in order to get around.

Luckily the sweet little gal isn’t letting her prognosis slow her down one bit! Kocher told ABC News:

“She’s very spunky, and her personality lends itself well to the road forward for her. She loves being the center of attention, being held and she’s very playful.”

The PSPCA is ecstatic that things have worked out for Frances, but they still plan to pursue cruelty charges against whoever dumped her in that bag. Anyone with information is asked to call the organization’s cruelty hotline at (866) 601-7722.
