Did you know that some dogs are more sensitive to temperature than others? No two dogs will react to heat or cold the same. Brachycephalic breeds, like pugs, are more likely to overheat faster than other dogs. Likewise, smaller dogs are more sensitive to cold, and your tiny Chihuahua won’t want to play in the snow as long as your Bernese Mountain Dog.
Pup Alert is a new device that can keep dogs safe from extreme heat or extreme cold – whatever “extreme” might be for your dog, specifically. It takes into account factors that determine how your dog’s body experiences the temperature of his environment. Anyone can read a thermometer and guess whether the temperature is uncomfortable for their dog, but this device takes into consideration all the factors that count and lets you know that your dog needs your attention.
Founders Elizabeth Hess and Chelsea Rhoads came up with Pup Alert to give dogs a voice they didn’t have before – one that they can use to let the people who love them know that they’re uncomfortable, or worse, in danger.
Pup Alert is useful in all kinds of situations. During a car trip you can clip it to your dog’s kennel to make sure the sun isn’t baking his side of the car. Put it near his sleeping area in your home to make sure it’s not too hot or too cold for him to rest comfortably.
The device connects to your phone via an app that allows you to put in your dog’s relevant information. You can even personalize it with your favorite picture of your pup!
If your dog needs you, Pup Alert will notify you right away. The device works on a cellular network, so there’s no worries about being out of range or whether or not wi-fi is available. The app also allows you to add emergency contacts, in case you aren’t able to get to your pet right away, it can alert someone who can.
There’s no better way to love your pet than to put his health and comfort first. Pup Alert is a very clever tool that helps you to do that, using technology that is tailored to him!
