Pececil Williams must have had an angel looking out for him.
The blind 60 year old man was standing too close to train platform this morning, witnesses say. As he got closer and closer to the edge of the platform, his black lab guide dog, named Orlando, desperately tried to pull him back to safety.
As the mans feet reached the edge of the platform, he began wobbling. Orlando started barking to warn of danger, continuing to try to pull him to safety.
Despite the dog’s best effort, the man fell off the platform unto the tracks. Witnesses we’re then astonished when Orlando jumped in after him. Unable to pull him out of the tracks, the dog did the best he could by licking the man’s face, desperately trying to get him to move.
Onlookers watched in horror as only 15 seconds after the man fell, an oncoming train was seen approaching. Though the conductor slammed on the breaks, it was too late, and the subway car zoomed over both of them as witnesses screamed in horror.
But then a miracle happened. A bystander cried out “he’s alive!” As firefighters and medics arrived to assist the man, they realized that somehow both he and the dog has scooted into the middle of the tracks, and had avoided most of the impact!
They first removed the dog, who seemed to be doing ok. Then Williams was removed. His face was very bloody from the impact, but appeared much better then exepcted. As of now, Williams is listed in stable condition after being transported to the hospital.
Some might say Williams had an angel looking out for him today. We’d have to agree, that angel’s name is Orlando and he’s a black labrador retriever. 🙂
