While most of the world was celebrating the Oscars, the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) decided to host their own award show, where the winners would be voted by the public! The First Annual Vettie Awards were hosted on their Facebook Page and votes were cast with the like/love/haha votes. The did not count wow/sad/angry “votes.”
The rules were as follows:
- The video must be made by a vet, vet tech, vet student, or vet practice
- It can be funny or serious, but it must be about veterinary medicine/animal health
- It must be family-friendly
There was no real prize awarded, it was just a fun way to get vet clinics involved in community education. The winning video was submitted by Nolan River Animal Hospital of Cleburne, Texas.
Using a parody of Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass” to promote spay and neuter, the vet clinic does a great job of bringing some humor into a subject that can be quite controversial. Their hilarious video is below:
Congratulations to the team at Nolan River Animal Hospital! We bet this is a FUN vet office to work in! To see all eight videos, check out the AVMA’s YouTube playlist here.
