People have been known to leave behind some pretty shocking scenes when they flee an eviction. There have been tales of people repossessing homes and finding all kinds of left behind belongings, illegal items, and homes maliciously destroyed with wiring and plumbing pulled out of the walls. You’d be hard put to find something authorities haven’t seen.
Deputy Kyle Knortz got a surprise when he was summoned to a home in Lilburn, Georgia to oversee an eviction. He accompanied the landlord to the home only to find that the family who lived there had already vacated the residence leaving behind trash, clothing, furniture, and several other items – including a small puppy. The pup had been left alone for at least a week, with only trash to eat and a leaky water heater as his only means of getting water. The family he knew left him behind with all their other unwanted belongings.
Deputy Knortz knew immediately that the little dog was going to have to come with him – for good. With three dogs already, he and his wife already had a full house, but the lonely puppy deserved a good home, and he knew that they could provide it. His wife, Tori was won over immediately when he sent her a picture, and agreed to give the pup a loving forever home.
It’s a bittersweet ending. Unfortunately, Georgia Animal Welfare isn’t planning on pressing charges since Klaus was found alive, but have you ever seen anyone so happy to be evicted? Klaus is lucky to have been found when he was – and that Deputy Knortz was the one who found him.
