Depressed Dog Stares At The Wall For Weeks After Being Abandoned By His Owners

| Published on June 14, 2016

“Ohana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind”–We all heard that line from the Disney movie Lilo and Stitch.

Our dogs are not just pets to us, they are our best friends, they are part of the family. So we don’t just leave them behind. However, not everyone sees their dogs that way. And it’s sad that they just abandon their dogs, leaving the poor dog behind, confused why his so-called family has left him.

That is exactly what happened to this dog now named Barkley. Barkley was found wandering in a trailer park . His rescuers believe that he was abandoned by his owners. When they brought him to Daviess County Animal Shelter, Barkley was very depressed. He just sat in the corner, stared at the wall, and refused to eat. He didn’t take any interest in taking walks either.

Watch the video below.

UPDATE – STILL NOTHING CONCRETE FOR BARKLEY BUT VET DID SEE HIM YESTERDAY…..His paws are badly infected on on side (meaning front paw and back paw on one side), he also has HORRIBLE teeth and needs immediate dental to be done. While the vet was here, Barkley was sedated and was heartworm tested NEGATIVE, the vet looked at his teeth and OH BOY, it is bad…he has a whole in his gums that is very badly infected. He needs someone extra special who is not afraid to spend the money needed to get him better. We are hoping and praying that when his medical needs are met, he will feel so much better and blossom!!!

This is BARKLEY…..he is a very URGENT senior Dauschund or sheltie mix(?). His paws appear to have urine burns and are raw, and his nails are super long. He also seems like his teeth are in rough shape and he is in need of a dental badly. Barkley was found as a stray in Lamplite trailer park and he appears to have been abandoned. This little guy is pretty terrified right now and will “belly-roll” with any leash pressure. If you can get him to trust you, you can pick him up and he lightens his defenses. What you see I this video is what shelter staff are faced with each day while cleaning. This makes moving him very traumatic for him and sets him back daily. Barkley is already neutered and needs immediate adopter or rescue. Will you be his special someone?? When they let the vet take a look at Barkley, they discovered that he wasn’t just depressed, he was also suffering. His paws were infected and his teeth were in such horrible condition that they needed surgery. Thankfully, a lot of people donated to help Barkley when they read about his story. The donations didn’t cover all the costs, but they were able to help pay for Barkley’s dental surgery and got him neutered too.
