Over 100 dogs have appeared on the street in one of Chicago’s most upscale neighborhoods – and the community loves it!

The fiberglass German Shepherds are there to raise awareness and support Chicago’s police and their families. The project, developed by the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation and PAWS Chicago, is meant to memorialize the sacrifice made by officers who have lost their lives or been injured while serving their community and their families.

Each K9 was uniquely designed by local artists, and sponsored by those who wanted to support their community. The result is an amazing, colorful display along Chicago’s Magnificent Mile.

Others are just plain beautiful.

The statues will be on display until Labor Day, then auctioned on eBay. The proceeds will provide support for the families of fallen officers through the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation, with a portion going to PAWS Chicago to continue their spay and neuter program for Chicago’s under-served communities.
