Most dogs who come through shelters can stomach pretty much all dog foods. But lots of pups with tummy issues need rescuing, too, just like good dog Baxter. He came to Protective Animal Welfare Society with digestive problems after existing on a diet of human food scraps. Feeding dogs like Baxter can be difficult for shelters and rescue as specialty foods are more expensive than regular foods. With tight budgets, finding the extra funds for these pricey foods can be challenging.
But we at iHeartDogs will do anything to help dogs find their best life. And we couldn’t do it without you! When you purchase goodies for you and your dog from our shop, you’re donating the much-needed cash that goes to purchasing food for dogs in need. And all you have to do is shop and buy while we take care of the rest!
Feeding Dreams of Forever Homes
Shopping with iHeartDogs means feeding hungry dogs because part of every purchase you make donates money to rescues and shelters working hard to care for dogs and puppies in need, all thanks to a partnership between iHeartDogs and Greater Good Charities. This purpose-driven family of charities devotes their efforts to improving human and animal lives both. One of the best ways to serve animals in need is by filling their food bowls and giving them the comfort of a full belly. And the Rescue Bank, a pet food distribution initiative developed by Greater Good Charities, has been keeping hungry bellies full for over a decade.
To date, the Rescue Bank has delivered over 275 million meals to shelters and rescues across the country. And with your help, we can make that number grow by funding more of these much-needed donations to shelters and rescues. Ask Baxter! Thanks to you and Rescue Bank, he’s a satisfied and happy dog.
Baxter and His Belly
Baxter came to the Protective Animal Welfare Society in Kansas City, Missouri, from a homeless camp beneath a bridge.
As the Welfare Society shared, “The homeless people who cared for him wanted a better life for him.”
And that better life would start with getting Baxter’s belly back in order. Living off food scraps without the nutrients dog food provides, the sweet boy had some troubles with his digestion. Consulting with their vet, the Welfare Society explained, “He strongly suggested Baxter be put on a food to help with his digestion.”
Thanks to the Rescue Bank, Baxter had plenty of access to the specialty food he needed to heal his gut.
“With the help of Royal Canin’s Gastrointestinal food he is doing great and gaining weight and loving his new life at the facility while he waits for his forever family to come.”
It’s not just Baxter benefiting from Rescue Bank donations. The Protective Animal Welfare Society of Kansas City has fed so many dogs because of this beneficial pet food initiative.
“Rescue Bank has made a huge difference in our ability to give our dogs consistently good quality food and helps keep the dogs happy and healthy and definitely makes a huge positive impact on our budget to allow us to help more dogs.”
The Rescue Bank brings the food, but they couldn’t supply it without you. So, thank you for shopping with a purpose. Baxter and his fur buddies really appreciate it!
