Animal shelters diligently work to ensure that every animal in their care finds a forever home filled with love. One effective method they use to connect these animals with potential families is by organizing adoption events. During one such event hosted by Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) in Orlando, Florida, they were particularly excited about featuring a certain participant. Amid the charming puppies and dogs was a special little lady who was both the oldest and longest resident of the shelter, a delightful Pit Bull mix named Baby Girl, who had been rescued from a perilous situation.

“[S]omeone watched a timid dog try and cross a busy interstate. They were able to stop the dog and get her inside their car, possibly saving her life,” OCAS recounted on Facebook. Upon her rescue, Baby Girl was immediately taken to OCAS, where she was warmly welcomed. Settling into the shelter, Baby Girl underwent a comprehensive health check by the OCAS veterinary team and was found to be a healthy 9-year-old.

Her demeanor quickly proved how affectionate she was. While the OCAS staff worked hard to find her a permanent home, they felt a foster home would be more beneficial for her in the interim. Fortunately, a volunteer named Su Morrison had already fallen in love with Baby Girl and eagerly welcomed her into her home as a foster.

Living with Morrison allowed Baby Girl to thrive– away from the stressful shelter environment. She blossomed in the calm, loving atmosphere of her foster home, endearing herself even more to her foster parents.

“Having Baby in our home … it’s a pleasure. The longer she stays, the more we see what an absolute goofball she is. She is such a happy girl,” Morrison conveyed to OCAS, a sentiment later shared on Facebook. Despite enjoying her foster life, Baby Girl still held onto her hope of finding a permanent home.

During the adoption event organized by OCAS, Baby Girl was placed prominently in hopes of attracting an adopter’s attention. Sadly, she was overlooked; not a single visitor stopped to interact with her, which left her feeling incredibly downhearted. After the event, while 58 OCAS animals found homes, Baby Girl had to return to her foster home, disheartened and still dreaming of a family.

What these dogs went through must have been terrifying and painful. That's why we're demanding true and complete justice for these pups and their family.

Just when Baby Girl believed her chances were diminishing, her life took a joyful turn. Morrison, deeply moved by Baby Girl’s loving nature and unable to bear the thought of parting with her, decided to adopt her permanently. As you can see in the video below, Baby Girl was thrilled to become an official family member.

Now, Baby Girl lives happily, enjoying serene walks and car rides with Morrison. She truly lives the dream she always hoped for, surrounded by her beloved human.
