Putnam County SPCA is desperately seeking help in finding the person who was responsible for abandoning a 5 year old Yorkie on the side of the road in below freezing temperatures in Kent, New York this past Friday morning. The dog was found in it's crate at the intersection of White Pond and Farmers Mills Rd.
Thank God another driver spotted the dog and called the police. Anyone who has information should call the Putnam County SPCA at (845) 520-6915.
Apparently, New York law treats abandoning an dog as a misdemeanor, with a fine of up to $1,000 and a possible prison sentence of one year. If you ask us, we'd like to add a third punishment:
Put the offender in a cage and leave them in the freezing cold for a few hours!!!!
