Sweet senior gal Zaney is a staff favorite at LifeLine’s Dekalb County Animal Services in Atlanta. She’s gentle, low-maintenance and is always ready with a tail wag and a Pibble grin when visitors stop by her kennel.
The problem is, she’s been in that kennel far too long. As much as they will miss her, Zaney’s friends want nothing more than to see her adopted into a loving home in time for the holidays.
You see, for Zaney it has been 70 days and counting. Anyone who has ever worked with shelter animals can tell you that eventually even the most optimistic dogs begin to lose hope. After that, their eyes dim a bit more each day.
Despite her long stay, Zaney is yet to let shelter life bring her down. She makes the best of every moment the busy staff and volunteers are able to spend with her. She loves napping in a beam of sunlight or curling her meaty Pibble body against the nearest human – any human will do! Zaney loves everyone equally.
To celebrate Adopt A Senior Pet month, the folks at Dekalb treated their older canine residents to “Spoil A Senior” days. On Zaney’s special day her volunteer chose to take her walking along the historic Atlanta BeltLine, followed by a trip to the popular Krog Street Market.
Since Zaney’s favorite activity is meeting new humans, these locations were the perfect choices for her! She wore her best pink tutu, ate bacon, mingled with people and pups, and even chose a few new treats. Here’s a look at Zaney’s epic “Spoil A Senior” adventure.
She even managed to master a brand new trick while out on the town!
Okay, so maybe “mastered” isn’t the best word. But what could be cuter than a dog who “plays dead” by squirming around on her back and kicking her legs in the air??
Zaney’s got it all – looks, brains and personality, too!
