You may remember the story of a man who was finally hired, along with his service dog, at a Lowe’s in Canada. Now, the home improvement chain has a second man-dog duo to brag about!
In Abilene, Texas, Clay Luthy and his service dog, Charlotte have officially become Lowe’s employees. Charlotte even has her very own work vest, just like the rest of the staff!
Luthy is an Air Force veteran who recently had knee surgery. His canine companion accompanies him wherever he goes because she’s able to help him up if he falls, according to Fox 4 News.
But Charlotte, who’s now 10 years old, was part of the family even before she had an official “job” to do.
“I got her as a puppy. And she was never supposed to be a service dog. I found out a couple years ago she was alerting me and I didn’t even know it,” Luthy told KIDY.
Now, he’s come to depend on her so much that he applied to Lowe’s in hopes that they’d accept him and his pup as a packaged deal.
“I was trying to figure out where I could go that would be a good fit [and] wouldn’t mind having Charlotte, and my wife said I was at Lowe’s so much anyway, I might as well get a job there,” he said in the news story.
Jay Fellers, Lowe’s human resources manager, seems to think that hiring the duo was a no-brainer.
“They were the best ‘person’ for the job. So, we went through the interview process, and Clay and his own merit won the job,” he told KIDY. “And we knew he was gonna make a great employee. We just got the benefit of getting Charlotte right along with him.”
When a customer snapped a photo of the two donning their matching vests, it went viral, and its popularity took Luthy by surprise. To him, going about his day with Charlotte by his side is just the norm.
“I found a way to have a productive life and my prescription is four-legged,” he said in the story.

Well, we’d certainly be more likely to go to a home improvement store that had a four-legged employee! Way to go Lowe’s, and Charlotte, you’re a good girl!
