On Sunday, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) embarked on a type of chase that they had never experienced before.
Running from law enforcement on the San Francisco Bay Bridge was a little black Chihuahua, who was finally pulled over by an officer on a motorcycle.
Now, of course he wasn’t in trouble, and the police were chasing him so they could bring him to safety. (Do you really think this little sweetheart could’ve done anything wrong?)
Luckily, they apprehended the the sweet subject, who didn’t suffer so much as a scratch.
High speed pursuit on the Bay Bridge this morning! One in custody. All are safe!

Unfortunately, the pup is considered to be “missing,” and the CPH is hoping his owner will turn up. They’ve nicknamed him Ponch, “after the CHP Officer Frank Poncherello played by Erik Estrada in the TV series ‘CHiPs,'” reports a story by KRON 4.

The CHP urges anyone with information regarding the identity of the pup to contact them: (415) 557-1094. You can also track updates on their Facebook Page. For now, little Ponch is resting safely in the care of the San Francisco Animal Care and Control shelter. We sure hope his owners turn up!
