The worst part about having a pet is the heartbreaking day you have to say goodbye. But the most important thing to remember is that the happiness you’ve shared together far outweighs the pain of the loss. Knowing your fuzzy family member lived a good life with you–and changed yours, for the better–makes it all worth it.
Reddit user weezabeeb captured this sentiment in a simple re-creation photo before the family’s 16-year-old dog had to be put down. The pose of four girls giggling with their small pup was re-shot by the same bunch–now four women–holding an elderly version of the pooch, who had since turned white and frail.
The pair of photos speak to the fact that true love never ages, even when we do.
User weezabeeb labeled the photo, “We had to put my dog of 16 yrs down yesterday but before we did we recreated our favourite photo with him.”
What a beautiful way to commemorate 16 years of love and friendship between four girls and their pup.
