A man in Philadelphia claims that his dog is the reason why he and his employee survived the armed robbery of his Big A convenience store. In-store security cameras caught the entire early morning confrontation between the store manager, his employee, and the two armed suspects.
Bullet, the owner’s beautiful dog, is being touted as a hero for intervening in the armed altercation.
“Two people come in with a big gun and a small gun. They come straight up to all the way here with the gun at the girl’s head and my head. They say don’t move,” shared Sammy Aloubehi, store owner and manager.
It was early Tuesday morning when two armed suspects came bursting through the door in an attempt to burglarize the corner convenience store. In the surveillance video, you can clearly see that both burglars are armed and prioritize making their way toward the back of the store. Once they encounter an employee sitting on the couch near the counter, one of them holds a gun to her head, while the other aims his at the owner and threatens them not to move.
“It happened right here. He coming straight out with the gun. The girl, she was here. The bullet is right here. It was almost at her head,” said the owner.
Then, brave Bullet can be seen jumping all over the suspect, getting in his way and obstructing his aim. This provided a long enough distraction to allow the clerk to draw her weapon and fire at him. The first suspect was caught off guard, but he still managed to fire his gun before he frantically fled the store.
Right after this, the second suspect started shooting at the employee and then ran out of the store after his accomplice. Bullet holes were left behind in the couch and on the wall from the firefight.
While the owner wasn’t injured in the altercation, his employee, who was sitting on the couch was shot four times. Her injuries are currently being treated in the hospital and she is said to be doing fine. Police were able to recover a weapon that was accidentally left behind by one of the suspects, but no arrests have currently been made.
The owner says he feels lucky to be alive and that it’s all thanks to his faithful friend Bullet. If he didn’t jump on the intruders exactly when he did, who knows if they both would have survived?
