SHARE is a community-based model of Canine Health Cost Sharing. SHARE is a non-profit organization that allows members to access shared funds to help pay for emergency veterinary services to save dogs’ lives. The goal of SHARE is to end economic euthanasia of our canine companions.
How it Works
SHARE is made up of a community of members that are connected through the SHARE app. Each member contributes a flat monthly amount to the community. Those funds are then accessed and used by members to ease the burden of paying for emergency veterinary services. When faced with an emergency situation with your dog, the SHARE app makes it easy to get the help and support you need.
- In the event of an emergency, open the SHARE app to get immediate assistance from the SHARE Health Advocate.
- The SHARE Health Advocate provides at home care instructions and alerts the veterinarian.
- At the vet’s office, an eligible emergency procedure is prescribed.
- A Vet Care Event (VCE) is created within the app.
- The SHARE app identifies members to contribute to the Vet Care Event and links funds to the Vet Care Event.
- Emergency services are concluded to the member’s satisfaction and funds are transferred directly to the vet’s account for payment.
Support from the Community
SHARE offers members more than just financial support during a scary, stressful medical event. Once linked to a Vet Care Event, members associated with the event can opt-in for updates and communications. In this way, members are sharing in the economic burden, as well as lending each other emotional support during a frightening and taxing time.
