10 Fun Dog-Friendly Fall Outings

#2 – Pumpkin Patch

Nothing is more fun than going directly to the patch for your pumpkin, Indian corn, and squashes to decorate your harvest table. Take photos in the patch, trek through a corn or hay maze together, and finish it by sharing a pumpkin treat (nothing too sweet!).

 

 

#3 – Tree Park

If you only go to the park during the summer, you are missing out on some serious beauty. There is nothing more spectacular than the turned leaves. And as they fall, you and your dog can kick them up, just like you did as a kid.

 

 

#4 – Hay Ride

Harvest time is the perfect time to visit a farm and go on a hay ride. Many have them this time of year, and it’s a great experience for dog and human alike.

 

#5 – Harvest Festival

If German food is not your thing, skip Oktoberfest and attend a Harvest festival. Here, you can eat your fill of pumpkin pie, corn on the cob, and candy corn, while your dog enters a costume contest.

 

 

#6 – Howl-ween Party

Speaking of costumes, most pet stores have Howl-ween parties in October. Get your dog dressed up (and dress up yourself!) and go have fun. You can score some prizes, your dog gets treats, and usually they have a sale going on too, so everyone wins.

 

 

#7 – Ghost Walks

Nothing says October like a haunted twilight tour of your local city. These fun and creepy outings are usually pet friendly, but check prior to booking.

 

 

#8 – Trick or Treating

If your dog is not afraid of all the craziness this night entails, take him along when you go out. There are some pretty cute child-dog costume combinations out there and your dog just might get some treats along the way as well.

 

 

#9 – Day of the Dead Festivals

Celebrated on November 1^st, this Mexican holiday is full of bright-colors, sweet treats, and loud music. It’s a way to remember that our departed loved ones (human and furry) are always with us. Check festivals near you for their pet policies before going.

 

#10 – Volunteering

As we approach Thanksgiving, many people volunteer at soup kitchens, homeless shelters, or children’s hospitals. If you have a certified therapy dog, see if the place you volunteer will let him accompany you. A warm dog can really brighten up a lonely holiday.
