Jake has been a regular visitor and “Platform Pawtroller” at the Staffordshire Railway Station with his owner, Neil McNamera for nine years. He loves watching the trains roll in and out of the station so much that they visit every day so Jake can greet passengers and staff, wagging his tail and barking as they arrive!
Jake’s favorite train service, Virgin Rail, now considers him a part of their family, and to make it official, gifted him with his own uniform!
The gesture was to mark the release of Virgin’s new body-neutral uniform for staff, which is made to look appealing “for every gender, size and shape across both the East and West Coast.” Virgin took their staff’s preferences into account and came up with a smart, comfortable design that they all love. Dogs love it too!
Jake’s uniform was tailored especially for him by Wayne and Gerardine Hemingway at Hemingway Design, whose motto is, “Design is about improving things that matter in life.” We doubt you could improve dogs, but the uniform is a definite step in that direction! Jake’s uniform fits perfectly and he looks perfectly dapper in it!
Neil McNamera, Jake’s owner tells Virgin that Jake is thrilled about his new duds. “Jake’s always had a love and fascination for Virgin’s trains, he doesn’t bark for any other! His daily trip to the station is a real highlight for him. Over nine years he’s become a mascot for the regular passengers and we’re excited for him to show off his special uniform.”
Now when Jake greets passengers, he can do so as a well-dressed member of Virgin Rail’s team!
