When K9 Haro of the Macedonia Police Department in Ohio was asked to help find a child’s hearing aid, he proved his commitment to helping the community in all ways, big and small!

After a student lost the very expensive and very important hearing aid at recess, staff searched the playground for the flesh-colored device but it was camouflaged against the wood chips. That’s when a teacher remembered Haro, who’d visited the school last year to perform an article search demonstration for the students. He knew that if anyone could sniff out the hearing aid, it’d be this clever K9!

When they called the police department to request Haro’s help, the pup wasn’t feeling his best due to an injured dewclaw. But the next day he was back on his feet, and decided to give the challenge a go!
It didn’t take long before the pup completed the task.

“After about 10 minutes of searching, Haro managed to find this tiny hearing aid in a playground full of mulch about 24 hours after it was dropped,” the Macedonia Police Department wrote on Facebook.
“Truly a needle in a haystack scenario! Great job Haro!”
We couldn’t agree more! Finding the device may have been no big deal for Haro, but he’s truly a hero to a child who can hear clearly once more!
